It has been a great day in the studio. I started making my elk painting. Here are some pictures from my day...

Sewing day!
It was today time for me to work with the sewing machine. The model was done and I now wanted to see if the chair would look more comfortable with some textile. So I started to sew. I came up with a lot of new ideés that would make the chair look more comfortabel and also ideas that totally changed the look of the chair. So I was satisfied. The chair was both working with and without textile and that is good for the production. My next step is to make a drawing of the chair and then send it to the producer to see what their reaction is! I going to cross one's fingers that they are going to like it as I do!
This was the tools that I have been working with today!
Tomorrow I'm hoping for some sun so that I can go to my beaver residence!

Workshop day
It has been a very windy day today so I didn't go to the beaver residence. I have instead been hanging around in my little workshop making different models.
My littel workshop with a beautiful and inspirational view over the lake.
It has been a very productive day with a lot of creativity. I have been running between the workshop and my drawingtable and at the end I came up with a small modell that I'm very satisfied with. Unfortunately I can't show it for you yet but hopefully you will soon see it as a real furniture.
This is my tools that I have been working with today + a pen and a paper...
If you look really carfully you can see the legs of the chair, but no more than that for now...

"Meeting" with a reindeer
My fantastic day at the mountain!
I left the safe and comfortable house to hike up above the three line for a day. I brought my camera and my camera equipment, my notebook and pencil, a map and some coffee and sandwishes. And I was of...
Do you see the snow??? In the middle of summer...
Mothers paradise!
Hiked through a area of big and beautiful cloudberries. Can I get some inspiration out of this? Can it maybe become a furniture? Who knows...
And there she was,The little reindeer!
We had some special connection...

After this special meeting I hade to take a picknick break..
This meeting with the reindeer was very inspirational for me both for my art paintings but also for my furniture design. I have been drawing new sketches of furniture tonight from this experience... You have to wait and see what I have come up to... I have also desided that a reindeer will be one of the animals in my exhibit "Swedish Animals" .
Tomorrow my plans is to hike to a beaver residence to get some inspiration for my art paintings. One of the swedsih animals is hopefully going to be inspired of a beaver! So I hope the wheater will be like today, sunny!!

Björn Welander is going way up north!
I have now left the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, and my big city lifestyle to embrace Scandinavian nature way up north in Sweden. This is my inspirational trip for 2009!
This year my plan is to explore Swedish nature up in the northern parts of Sweden. I will be out hiking over the treelines, bathe in the rivers and collect interesting creations such us wooden sticks, grass, horns and what ever I can find. I have two goals with this trip 1) make new paintings for a new exhibit and 2) design new furniture.
"Swedish Animals" is my next art exhibit. I will be showing my interpretation of the animals in the Swedish mountains.
And
”Cosmopolitan design meets Scandinavian nature”
I will attempt to find a mix of strict cityline design, with traditional Swedish furniture design and nature.
I will write a diary in english so that my South African friends, family and business partners can follow my adventures. This should also prove to be a good way for me to practise my english writing.

Välkommen på Vernissage - Färgen Vit by Björn Welander
Nu är det äntligen dags igen för mig att ha ytterligare en härlig utställning. Efter ett drygt år efter förra utställningen så är jag redo att visa upp mina skapelser. Utställningen kommer denna gång att äga rum i klädbutiken Plezuro på Rörstrandsgatan i Stockholm.
Jag har denna gång inspirerats och jobbat mycket med färgen vit. Jag har jobbat med att låta betraktaren skapa sin egna känsla och värme till konsten. Förutom konsten så kommer jag även att ha lite fotografier från det vackra området Fjällnäs, Stockholms skärgård och Malmö.
